Hilton the Chainsaw Guy’s Commercial 2000
Late Night had a contest between two of their sponsers in Houston (both furniture stores) – Hilton the Chainsaw Guy wins and Conan takes him to get a professional commercial made in NYC. Two notes: 1. The Houston NBC affiliate used to show Conan at 2:40 am instead of 11:35 when it should have been on the air (right after the Tonight Show) and 2. This sketch has deep personal significance to Conan as this is where he met his future wife, Liza. She’s the blonde on the creative team. And yes, I did notice the juicy irony at the beginning when Conan mentions Jay Leno’s pact with the American people…

I knew Conan met his wife on a remote, but I had no idea she actually appeared on camera. I figured she was a random production assistant or something like that. You can tell she “gets” his sense of humour, which is very cool. She seems awesome. Well done Conan.
